Core + Flex (Livestream) 10.2.2021
We have a dual focus in this Livestream Yoga Workout: Core + Flexibility. We start off in Child's Pose, taking a moment to slow things down and find our breath. Then we dive in with a short warmup, focused on stretching the back of our body while engaging the front of our body, beginning to activate our core. Then we alternate between flexibility focused sequences and core focused HIIT drills. It's a great combo and one of my favorite practices!
Flex + Core (Livestream) 10.16.2021
We have a dual focus in this Livestream Yoga Workout: Core + Flexibility. We start off in Child's Pose, taking a moment to slow things down and find our breath. Then we dive in with a short Cat & Cow warmup, focused on stretching the back of our body (preparing for backbends later) while engaging the front of our body, activating our core. The first half of class is focused on building strength, stamina & stability in the front of our body, using our core to support pose after pose. From there we dive into flexibility in the back of our bodies with a series of backbend sequences. I love this dual focus and HIGHLY recommend this class :)
Hawaii Series Day 4: Flexibility
Shot in West Maui on Kaanapali Beach with the island Lanai as our backdrop, in Day 4 we turn the focus to flexibility. We focus specifically on creating space in our shoulders, hamstrings quads & hips. We do a lot of Hold the Pose Yoga, the opposite of Vinyasa, because to truly build flexibility you need to stay in poses longer than you'd probably like! The HIIT Drills break up the class nicely, waking our bodies (and our brains), after each flexibility sequence.
Flexibility (Livestream) 9.25.2021
We turn the focus back to flexibility in this Livestream Yoga Workout, specifically in our hamstrings and backs. A Crescent flow kicks things off, warming our bodies for more challenging poses to come. We come in and out of a few poses over and over, so each time I want you to focus on going a little bit further, pushing your flexibility. This was an awesome workout!
NYC Series Day 3: Flexibility
Shot in a pool on the lower eat side (really) Day 3 is our first focus on flexibility. We ease into things, warming our bodies up, and then hit the usual suspects; hips, hamstrings, quads, shoulders & back. I try to make it as fun as I can, but truth is, building flexibility kinda hurts in the moment. If it didn't we'd all be flexible :)
Weights (Livestream) 9.15.2021
In this Livestream, Yoga with Weights workouts, we're focused on building strength, period! The kind of strength that's tough to build with just yoga alone. After a short Weighted Salutation, we dive in with a challenging Weighted Crescent Flow Series. We move through Crescent, Standing Splits, a Basic Twist & Rotated Half Moon, first without the weights to get the sequence in our bodies, and then we add the resistance. We wrap things up with some hands & knees action followed by core. This was a good one and really packs a punch!
Flexibility (Livestream) 9.13.2021
In this Livestream Yoga Workout the focus is on flexibility; specifically building space and mobility in our hips, hamstrings & quads. We kick class off seated, taking a moment to slow things down as well as check in with our hips & lower back. From there we dive into a sweet flow designed to open up our hips and hamstrings. Then we dive deeper, holding flexibility poses longer, creating even more space! We wrap things off with a 5 minute Tripod Headstand practice. A perfect class to build space and mobility in your lower body.
Flexibility: Social Distance Day 20
Day 20 in our Yoga for Social Distancing Series. The focus is on flexibility and this workout was actually shot a couple weeks after the killing of George Floyd. so at the end of class I've incorporated an 8m & 46s meditation, which is the amount of time George Floyd had a knee on his neck. Please stay for the meditation if you can.
Flexibility (Livestream) 9.8.2021
In this Livestream yoga Workout the focus is on flexibility; specifically building space and mobility in our shoulders, backs & hamstrings. For most of our flow today we alternate pose & then counterpose (think of backbends followed by forward bends) come in and out of each over and over, going deeper as we progress. By the end you'll feel an incredible amount of space, especially in the shoulder girdle. This one was a good one :)
Flexibility: Social Distance Day 6
Day 6 of the Social Distance Series was filmed at the end of March, 2 weeks after lockdown began. Shot in the East Village on the corner of 1st Avenue & Houston, the name of the game today is flexibility. After being cooped up for a couple weeks I figured we all needed a good stretch.
Flexibility 8.14.2021 Livestream
Flexibility is the name of the game in this Livestream Yoga Workout, specifically hamstring, hip & shoulder flexibility. We kick things off in Child's Pose, taking a moment to slow things down and find our beginning. From there we move, flowing through a fun warmup sequence stretching out the hamstrings with 3 Legged Dogs, Standing Splits & Crescent. Then we dive in a little deeper, as well as turn the focus to our hips. Then it's back into Tripod headstand for the last part of class!
Flexibility: NYC Series Day 44
Shot in one of the coolest alleys on the planet (or at least in NYC), Freeman's Alley is the backdrop for Day 44 in the NYC Yoga Series. This is the 2nd to last Flexibility class before the series is over, so we really push things, looking for the 'edge' of our flexibility, seeing how far our bodies will go. And after 43 days of yoga, they can go pretty far :)
Flexibility 6.8.2021 Livestream
We're turning the focus back to flexibility, specifically hip and hamstring flexibility, in this Livestream Yoga Workout. We ease our way into class starting seated, taking a moment to slow things down and find our breath. Then we start to move, warming our bodies up, preparing to make space! Keep in mind building flexibility is like running a marathon, it takes time and patience, and practice! It's all about journey. Oh...and I throw in a few Core focused HIIT drills to keep us on our toes :)
Flexibility 6.1.2021 Livestream
Building flexibility is the name of the game in this Livestream Yoga Workout. We kick things off seated, our beginning of choice for the month of June! From there we dive in, focused on building space and mobility in our hamstrings, back, and shoulders. We make our way toward Bird of Paradise, a peak pose I love to focus on every few weeks as a great gauge for where we're at in building flexibility. Make sure you have a short towel or yoga strap handy for a couple different shoulder stretches!
Hawaii Series Day 10: Flexibility
We made it...day 10! Shot on Oahu in Waikiki, with the Hilton Lagoon as our backdrop, we wrap up the Hawaii Yoga Series by turning the focus back to Flexibility one more time, specifically creating space in our hamstrings and shoulders. We kick things off in Down Dog, warming things up. From there we do two back to back hamstring focused sequences, flowing through Standing Split, Warrior One, Warrior Three, Pyramid Pose & Half Moon. We find variations in both Warrior One & Half Moon that gives our shoulders a great stretch. We wrap things off in a standing pigeon, giving the hips a little love, and stretching the shoulders one last time. Thanks so much for joining me in this 10 Day Yoga Series. Backbends + Core 5.29.2021 Livestream
If you're looking for a class to build flexibility and strength in your back and shoulders...then this is the class for you! We kick things off in Child's Pose, relaxing our bellies and breathing into our backs. Then we move into a back-opening sequence, alternating between backbends and core work. This whole class is leading up to Bridge & Wheel, which takes open shoulders, flexible spines & space in our quads. I HIGHLY recommend this workout - it's a good one :)
The focus of this weeks 'Workout of the Week' is building flexibility. We hit the usual suspects (hamstrings, hips, quads, shoulders & backs), in that order. Think of building flexibility as a marathon, a very long and often painful endeavor. There is no shortcut to getting more flexible. And in each pose find your edge, that place your body literally stops you from going further. This is the place where we build real space and mobility.
Core + Flex 5.18.2021 Livestream
Core + Flexibility...one of my favorite combos! We kick things off in Child's pose letting our core relax a little which stretching our hips and lower back. From there we start to move, alternating between backbends and core engagement, warming up the middle of our body. From there we start to hold poses, pushing our core strength with some advanced variations. But...with that said, we always start from a place of maximum support. So if you have any back issues, you can just hang out right where you are!
Core + Flex 4.12.2021
Shot on my roof with the skyline of NYC as our backdrop, in this Hiit & Run Yoga Workout we have a dual focus, core & flexibility, one of my favorite combos! We kick things off standing, flowing through a few poses that we'll be holding later, focused on creating space and mobility in our hamstrings and shoulders. In between each sequence we dive into one minute Core-focused HIIT drill. It's a great combo, one of my favorite!
