Hawaii Series Day 1: Balance
Welcome to Day 1 of the 10 Day Hawaii Series! Shot on Maui at Kamaole Beach Three, we kick the series off by focusing on Balance, because who couldn't use a little more balance in their lives right now. We get right to it, starting in Tree Pose, focused on creating anchors that help us balance and focus. From there we move through a series balance poses like Eagle, Half Moon & Warrior Three, building each pose up as well as adding in challenging variations. And of course there are several HIIT drills thrown in along the way to shake things up!
Hawaii Series Day 2: Core
Shot in Wailea, with West Maui in the distance, in Day 2 we turn the focus to Core, making sure those 2020 pandemic bellies are gone for good! We kick things off on our hands and knees both activating the front of our bodies while we warm up our backs. From there we move into a modified side plank, setting the stage for more challenging variations to come. From there we flow through a Warrior One, Warrior Two, Extended Side Angle, Triangle & Half Moon Series, using our core to stabilize each pose. The HIIT drills are super focused in this class, on the Core of course!
Hawaii Series Day 3: Cardio
Shot in West Maui on Kaanapali Beach, in Day 3 we turn the focus to Cardio. In this class the whole point is to MOVE, from start to finish. We'll build up a very long sequence, stringing about 20 poses together on each side. We'll take it through slow the first time around, practicing the transitions, then run the sequence through four more times, each time a little faster. Poses you'll do are Crescent, Half Moon, Triangle, Side Plank, Warrior Three & Standing Split. I love this flow yoga class, sometimes it just feels good to move!
Hawaii Series Day 4: Flexibility
Shot in West Maui on Kaanapali Beach with the island Lanai as our backdrop, in Day 4 we turn the focus to flexibility. We focus specifically on creating space in our shoulders, hamstrings quads & hips. We do a lot of Hold the Pose Yoga, the opposite of Vinyasa, because to truly build flexibility you need to stay in poses longer than you'd probably like! The HIIT Drills break up the class nicely, waking our bodies (and our brains), after each flexibility sequence.
Hawaii Series Day 5: Balance
Day 5 in The Hawaii Series...we're halfway there! Shot in Lahaina on the west side of Maui, in Day 5 we bring the focus back to balance. Tree is our anchor pose for this workout, we kick things off in Tree and then come back to it twice more with different arm variations, each time upping the ante, challenging our balance. finding focus and balance right from the start. We also make our way through some very cool flows, focused on Warrior Three, Triangle & Half Moon, coming back to the same arm variation as we did in Tree. I loved the flow of this class, and the HIIT drills as well, it's a good one :)
Hawaii Series Day 6: Core
Day 6 in The Hawaii Series and we've made our way to Oahu...woohoo! With Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head as our backdrop, we turn our focus back to Core, building strength and stamina in the middle of our body. We kick things off with a little Cat & Cow warming things up, and then we dive right in. With each sequence we dive a little deeper, challenging sequences that focus directly on our core, using the front of our body to support the back of our body. Oh...and we do burpees! UGH!
Hawaii Series Day 7: Strength
With Diamond Head and Waikiki as our backdrop, in Day 7 we turn the focus back to strength, the kind of strength you build by holding poses longer that you want. We kick class in Down Dog, getting right to it. The focus of this workout is primarily building lower body strength, the first sequence is killer; Standing Split, Warrior One, Warrior Two, Reverse Warrior, Triangle & Extended Side Angle, kinda got exhausted just typing that. We get a short reprieve with side plank HIIT drills focused on the upper body, but today is definitely LEG DAY!
Hawaii Series Day 8: Balance
Day 8 in The Hawaii Series and we're turning the focus back to balance one last time. With the Hilton Lagoon as our backdrop, we kick things off standing on one leg in a Standing Pigeon. From there we play around with first creating strong anchors in each pose, then slowly taking them away, maintaining our balance through it all. This might have been my favorite of the series.
Hawaii Series Day 9: Cardio
Day 9...only 2 days left! With a right of palm trees as our backdrop, in Day 9 we turn the focus one last time to cardio. In this class the whole point is to MOVE, from start to finish. We build up a long sequence, taking it through slow the first time around, practicing the transitions, then we run the sequence through four more times, each time a little faster. Poses you'll do are Crescent, Half Moon, Triangle, Side Plank, Warrior Three & Standing Split. This is Vinyasa Yoga to the nth degree!
Hawaii Series Day 10: Flexibility
We made it...day 10! Shot on Oahu in Waikiki, with the Hilton Lagoon as our backdrop, we wrap up the Hawaii Yoga Series by turning the focus back to Flexibility one more time, specifically creating space in our hamstrings and shoulders. We kick things off in Down Dog, warming things up. From there we do two back to back hamstring focused sequences, flowing through Standing Split, Warrior One, Warrior Three, Pyramid Pose & Half Moon. We find variations in both Warrior One & Half Moon that gives our shoulders a great stretch. We wrap things off in a standing pigeon, giving the hips a little love, and stretching the shoulders one last time. Thanks so much for joining me in this 10 Day Yoga Series. I loved filming it and hope you loved doing it!
